学术英语(EAP)

TCC’s English for Academic Purposes Program prepares international students for success in higher education institutions in the United States. The EAP Program offers a wide variety of classes designed not only to improve English language and study skills, but also to prepare students for U.S. 大学文化.

完整的程序

The EAP Program offers five levels of instruction, 从初级到高级, 在两层教学中: 强化英语 and 学术桥. Each level takes one quarter (approximately three months) to complete (students  in the 强化英语 tier may progress more quickly if outcomes are mastered earlier). Students will complete a writing sample after being admitted to determine their level.

综合技能班: Intensive, multi-level reading, writing, and grammar courses to prepare English language 学术桥课程的学员. 学生在这一级别的学习时间最长可达 three quarters or progress more quickly if outcomes are mastered earlier. 这些课程的上课时间是 ten 在教室和 two hours 一个星期自己上网.

学术桥

写作和阅读课: Designed to improve 语言学习者' writing ability for entrance into college-level English, students gain proficiency in writing varied types of essays. 课程也 focuses on academic reading, research skills, and advanced grammar. • Level 4: EAP 99 写作和阅读I(10学分)与 COL 101 (Students earn 5 college credits after successfully completing this class)
• Level 5: EAP 100 Composition and Reading II (Students earn 10 college credits after successfully completing (与…有联系的 CMST&101 (Students earn 5 college credits after successfully completing this class)

 Students may request a certificate of completion upon passing Level 5.

选修口语课程: Level 4 and 5 students may take the following classes for additional speaking practice. These classes meet fully face-to-face in the classroom.

Quarter 1:

• EAP 191 发音和会话I(2学分)
• EAP 192 文化与会话I(3学分)

Quarter 2:

• EAP 193 发音和会话II(2学分)
• EAP 194 美国文化与对话 II (3 credits)
